Places of Interest

Devon is a popular tourist area and has well over 200 places to visit. You can choose from Exeter Cathedral and historic properties such as Powderham Castle, to beaches and holiday attractions, and on to Dartmoor and stunning scenery. VisitDevon has them all listed for you. 

Just along the coast is the start of the Jurassic Coast in East Devon. East Devon also boasts many other attractions such as Bicton Park, beaches at Exmouth, Sidmouth, Beer and Dawlish Warren, museums and activities. VisitDevon has them listed on their website.  

Briardene Locality 

Briardene Cottage is only three miles from Exeter city centre so all of the conveniences are within easy reach. A few are listed here. 

Supermarkets

All of the major supermarkets can be found in Exeter and all will deliver to Briardene. There is a convenience store at the bottom of Redhills which can be located on the map. 

Restaurants

The Travellers Rest at the bottom of Pound Lane is always good for food but you'd need to book.

Walking and Cycling

The Exeter Green Circle is a 12 mile walk around Exeter. The 12 miles is split into six separate walks.

The River Exe/Canal Start at Exeter Quay and walk or cycle along the canal (not the river) to the Double Locks pub and continue to The Turf pub (do check opening  times of both).

Exe Estuary Trail From Darts farm you can walk part of the Exe Estuary Trail to Exmouth (Darts Farm Village, Topsham, Clyst St George, Exeter EX3 0QH)

Darts is good for shopping and has a nice café.  Well worth a visit.

Darts Farm to Exmouth station is 5.5 miles. There is a train that runs between Exmouth and Exeter stopping at Topsham which is a ¼ mile from Darts.

Powderham Castle (Powderham Estate, Exeter EX6 8JQ)

There are various walks around the estate which also has a farm shop, gift shop and café.
